John E. Rubin, MD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology and Assistant Attending Anesthesiologist at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota and attended medical school at New York Medical College. Dr. Rubin completed his residency in Anesthesiology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he served as chief resident in his final year of training.

He also competed a fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center in Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine. Dr. Rubin is a national leader in the use of extended reality (XR) in medicine and is a founding member of the American Medical Extended Reality Association (AMXRA). He is the Co Director of the Extended Reality Anesthesiology Immersion Laboratory (XRAIL) at Weill Cornell Anesthesiology. Along with his collaborators, Dr. Rubin investigates how to integrate XR and artificial intelligence (AI) for training in procedural tasks within anesthesiology, for simulation education, for the development of soft skills (power skills and bias training), and for pre-procedural planning for clinical care.
