Kate Donovan, PhD, MBA, MS is the Clinical Director of Innovation at Boston Children's Hospital for the Inpatient Medical Programs and Pediatric Intermediate Care Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and is also an advisor to the Innovation Digital Health Accelerator and Immersive Design Systems at Boston Children's. Dr. Donovan is the founder of mARk, an AR app that brings medical equipment into the homes of our young patients to help them prepare and understand how their environment will be once discharged from the hospital. She is co-founder of the CAITLYNN Program, Hacking Pediatrics (the only pediatric healthcare hackathon in the Northeast), and the Small Talk Podcast (an award winning pediatric focused podcast) . She is also a co-founder of medVR (medical XR bootcamp and accelerator), and the VP of Innovation for the Amercian Medical Extended Reality Association.
Dr. Donovan is the Senior Editor for the Journal of Medical Extended Reality (JMXR). brought XR to the hospital 17 years ago and have been in the space ever since. She develops and utilizes XR with pediatric patients and for clinical training at Boston Children’s Hospital. In additional to over 100 experiences that have built and deployed in-house, Boston Children’s was the first medical institution to have a medical app in the Apple Vision Pro app store - CyranoHealth - an app that helps with nurse training and communication. Kate understands the pain points in the clinical environment and beyond and augments them with XR.
