We welcome submissions from individuals or teams working across XR, AI, and immersive media, including but not limited to:

Projects can be experimental, speculative, research-driven, or market-ready.
Applicants should choose one primary track based on the intent of their work.
For experimental, artistic, and research-driven projects, including:AI films and immersive narratives
- XR artworks and installations
- Research prototypes and speculative design
- Interactive media experiments
- Academic or conceptual XR work
This track emphasizes ideas, exploration, and new modes of perception rather than commercial readiness.
For applied, product-oriented, or venture-backed projects, including:
- XR startups (pre-market or in-market)
- Developer platforms and tools
- Commercial or applied XR systems
- Products with validated user or partner interest
This track emphasizes real-world use, execution, and scalability.
Track-specific awards apply only to projects selected for the Pitch format. These awards recognize excellence within the curated group of teams invited to present their work on stage.
The Audience Choice Award is open to project selected and comfirmed to come to HXR Conference, regardless of track or format.
Whether a team is presenting a Pitch or/and exhibiting a Demo Booth, all are equally eligible, and the winner is determined solely by the votes of HXR Conferene attendees.
Projects in the Exploratory / Creative XR Track are eligible for:

For outstanding conceptual, artistic, or research-driven XR projects
Best AI + XR Narrative
For excellence in storytelling, cinematic language, or narrative experimentation
Projects in the Applied / Venture & Product XR Track are eligible for:
Best Applied XR Product
For strong execution, real-world relevance, and product clarity
Best Emerging XR Startup
For early-stage teams demonstrating exceptional promise and vision
Track 1: Exploratory / Research & Creative XRProjects are evaluated on:Originality and innovation
- Conceptual clarity and intent
- Cultural, social, or research significance
- Exploration of XR as a medium
Track 2: Applied / Venture & Product XRProjects are evaluated using the Founders Lab Startup Framework, including:Team and presentation
- Problem–solution fit
- Product innovation
- Market and competitive positioning
- Real-world and social impact
Projects are evaluated within their track. There is no cross-track comparison.

Examples:AI film / XR film → link to the video
- AR glasses / hardware → link to a recorded demo of the product in use
- XR interactive game → link to a gameplay or walkthrough video
- VR film / immersive cinema → link to a screen capture or 360 preview
- Research or conceptual XR work → link to a short demo video or visual portfolio.
All material submitted should be in English or have English Subtitles.
Selected participants will be invited to present in one of the following formats:
* Selected project team will have a free all-access pass to HXR Conference.
1. Quick Pitch:
A 3-minute presentation to the audience
2. Demo Booth:
A dedicated table or space for live screening and interaction
3. Online Exhibition (Bonus):
All selected projects will be featured on Harvard XR’s online platforms and shared across community channels.
No purchase necessary to submit for Showcase.
The HXR Showcase (the "Contest") is part of the HXR Conference, co-hosted with Harvard GSD XR Club (the “Sponsor”).
Grant of Rights
1. By submitting, you agree that HXR, Harvard GSD XR Club and its designated sponsors and partners may use your submission(s), fully credited, for promotional purposes on their websites and/or marketing collateral. You will retain all copyrights to your work.
Eligibility and Permission of Entries
2. There are no restrictions on submitting entries that have been submitted to other competitions or previously published in public.
3. By submitting to the HXR Showcase, you warrant that you have obtained permission to submit the works for public display.
4. By entering this Contest, entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules. The decisions of the judges and HXR Showcase Committee with respect to all aspects of the Contest are final and binding.
Data Use and Privacy
5. As a condition of being selected, the project creator grants to Sponsor the right to use his/her full name (first and last), image and likeness, voice, and comments for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes without territorial, time or use limitations, including without limitation online announcements, without additional compensation or notice, unless prohibited by law.
6. By entering the Contest, entrants thereby release the Sponsor, their parent and affiliated organizations, their advertising and promotional agencies, and their employees, representatives, agents, partners, shareholders, officers and directors (the “Releasees”) from all liability including responsibility for any loss, damage or injury, caused by participating or their attempt to participate in the Contest or resulting from acceptance of the Prize or participation in the Event.

7. The releases assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. The Releasees are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any entry to be received by the Sponsor on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer and other property relating to or resulting from participation in this Contest or from downloading any materials in this Contest.
8. The Sponsor reserves the right at all times at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest, in whole or in part, in the event of any cause beyond the reasonable control of the Sponsor that interferes with the proper conduct of the Contest as contemplated by the Official Rules, including, without limitation, any error, technical problem, computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause including the cancellation or postponement of the Event.
9. The Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who (i) tampers with, or attempts to tamper with, the entry process; (ii) enters the Contest or tries to do so by any means contrary to these Official Rules or which would be unfair to the other entrants; or (iii) violates any of these Official Rules.
10. By entering this Contest, each entrant consents to the collection, use, and disclosure, by the Sponsor, of the following personal information: full name (first and last), submitted entry information, and contact information (telephone number, address, and email address) for the administration of this Contest including, but not limited to, the announcement of selected projects. No commercial or other communications unrelated to the Contest will be sent to entrants unless they have otherwise agreed to receive such communications.
